Wren slept well last night because of the fever. He did not cough as much but wheezed and was breathing fast (50 bpm approx) all the time. Around 5am his fever broke and he rested easier but had more coughing and spitting up milk.
This morning I noticed that his retractions were worse - I can see his ribs at the back and side when he breathes in - BUT he is feeling much better. He is walking around, has more normal color (no purple rings under his eyes) and playing with toys and talking.
I suspect the fever will return later but am glad to see he is feeling better now. I am watching that wheeze and retractions and may mention it to the doctor later.

Hi Shannon,
Both your children are adorable. I was glad to see your persistance in nursing Wren (nothing can be better for him) and having a Naturopath Dr. also seeing him. My heart child is now 22-years-old and I have a son, Aden, who is 7-years old. We have a licensed medical doctor that has extensive training in Anthroposophical medicine who oversees our family in addition to a regular family practice Doc. I will look forward to keeping up on Wren's progress as you embark on your journey.
Love
Valerie
I hope Wren is doing better with his infection! Poor, baby :( You must be so worried, too. My Justin is still in the hospital...but doing better, day by day. That's all we can hope for, right?
Take Care,
Jen
Shannon,
So sorry to hear that Wren is sick. I know you'll take good care of him and keep a close eye out for anything troubling.
I know we've never chatted in person, but I've been through the ringer with diet and nutrition for Ramona and I'd be glad to pass on what I've learned (I'm an expert now that she's had the tube out for a few days, LOL). Please feel free to contact me at janedeitrich ( AT ) yahoo.com (hah, let's see you spambots try and get that one!).
Thinking about you guys and hoping for a speedy recovery for Wren. Did they do an RSV test?
Jane.
Hi Valerie
Thanks for your encouragement. Our naturopath has often been the only one to offer help for the viral ailments. Shes also good at general health while our doctor tends to respond to emergencies and "conditions". I have been so glad to have her home number!
The thing with nursing is that they don't know how much milk Wren is getting and apparent average breast milk has 20 calories per oz which is not as much as some other foods. I have yet to research this myself!

Hi Jen
I have been following your blog. I am glad Justin is doing well despite all that congestion. I hope the transition to the floor is not too rocky. I remember being quite terrified when we were left so much alone on the floor in comparison with the CICU.

Hi Jane
I have emailed you on the bot.cryptic address and would really love to hear any advice you have on eating for one year olds. I am at my wits end with trying to encourage eating. The threat of declining percentiles and cardiac factors adds drama to the process. Drama I do not need right now.
