WREN'S STORY

Wren was born in December 2006 with a number of left-heart obstructions called Shone's syndrome, Shone's complex or Shone's Anomaly. Wren had: coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic aortic arch, aortic stenosis, LVOT ridge and small and slightly prolapsed mitral valve.

He had heart surgery to repair his arch and coarc at 6 days old and a balloon valvuloplasty of his aortic valve via at 6 weeks.

In November 2008, he had surgery to remove some of the blockage in his left-ventricular outflow tract and a supra-valvar obstruction as well. The surgery improved his gradient across the AV but it remains moderate and of concern. His mitral valve also has mild-mod regurgitation.

In 2012 we learned his aortic stenosis met the criteria for surgical intervention. We are waiting until fall for Wren to go to cath lab to see if ballooning the valve will delay a valve replacement by months or years.
